SU76 NEWINGTON GREEN ROAD - SUSTAINABLE AND AFFORDABLE

The project fulfils a vital role often overlooked by developers and house builders by being a holistic insertion into the urban fabric in a truly sustainable way. The environmental aspects of the project are inherent in both the building fabric and construction methods. However, its green credentials are extended, in that it provides an affordable family home in the local community.


Practical componets on the building include a sedum roof, recycled building components, passive design features, an air source heat pump, sheeps wool insulation and an Insulslab concrete slab. The combined U Values are well below the Building Regulations requirements.


Much of the interior work comprises contrasting surfaces and materials such as bare face plywood, exposed laminated beams and diagonally orientated floor boards. The stiar is constructed in plywood and wraps around a triangular shaped void bringing daylight into every storey of the house.
